      A Blessing Bowl Story

It was two weeks before our niece's wedding and my sister and I were still undecided as to what we should get the wonderful couple for a gift.  This was a special wedding…pots and pans, linens, or dishes just wouldn't do, and neither one of us wanted to give the bride and groom a card with a check in it.  It had to be something memorable…it had to be something totally different…and it had to be beautiful.  We were stumped.

The next day I happened to pay a visit to Heather Lane Pottery and I came upon the "Blessing Bowl."   I had found our gift!!!  I quickly called my sister and explained to her the "Blessing Bowl" concept.  She was thrilled with the idea.  So we decided on a size, the design, the colors, and what would be written on the inside of the bowl.  We were even able to have the bowl personalized with the name of the bride and groom and their wedding date.

Two days before the wedding, my sister and I gave the gift to our niece explaining that this was a gift she needed to open prior to the wedding.  Upon opening the gift and reading the "blessing" tears came to her eyes.  When we explained the concept of the Blessing Bowl she was even more touched.

Renae and Craig were married last Saturday.  As everyone arrived at the reception they were directed to a table in the foyer and there sat the "Blessing Bowl."  The mistress of ceremonies gave each person a card and asked that at some point during the evening they write down a thought, a blessing, or a wish on the card and then place the card in the "Blessing Bowl" for the bride and groom.

As the joyful day came to a close, my sister and I walked out into the foyer to take a peak at our gift.  The "Blessing Bowl" was over flowing with cards of blessings…each card a special gift that will continue to bless Craig and Renae for years to come, and the "Blessing Bowl" with every use, will remain a constant reminder of the happiest day of their lives.
